The Patriots get their first look at 36-year-old wide receiver Reggie Wayne, who signed with the team earlier this week. It will remain interesting to see how coach Bill Belichick divides playing time between quarterbacks Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo in the team’s most important preseason game with Brady’s suspension appeal ongoing.

Elway says rest will be good for Manning – eventually (Yahoo Sports)

The long-term benefit of getting Peyton Manning so much rest this summer is that he should be fresher in December. With longtime apprentice Brock Osweiler getting so many snaps this summer, Manning’s work has been curtailed and the quarterback who has long despised taking a day – or even a play – off, was 8 for 15 for 52 yards in his preseason debut last week. ”Well, maybe it’s not what he’s used to,” general manager John Elway said Thursday.

Robert Griffin III evaded questions Thursday about when – or even if – he sustained a concussion in the Washington Redskins’ second preseason game. The Redskins said later Thursday that the quarterback was cleared by an independent neurologist to play Saturday night at the Baltimore Ravens in what could be his last preseason action. Last week against Detroit, Griffin left after four series, going 2 for 5 with two fumbles, three sacks and a few other big hits.

Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel is not throwing again in practice as he continues to be bothered by a sore right elbow. Johnny Manziel’s preseason is over, sacked by a stinging elbow. Browns coach Mike Pettine said Thursday that Manziel, who has made strides in his second year in the NFL after a rough rookie season, will not play in Cleveland’s last two exhibition games because of lingering soreness in his right elbow. Manziel will miss Saturday’s game at Tampa Bay as well as Cleveland’s preseason finale at Chicago on Sept. 3.

Are the Bills in QB “hell” ?

Bills GM Doug Whaley said the Bills are in “QB Purgatory”. Unfortunately as the season pans out, there may be a possibility that they could be someplace else, someplace much worse.
Entering into the third preseason game Coach Rex Ryan called the QB race even, that surprisingly all three have played at a high level.
While some teams may consider this a nice problem to have, the flip side says…

Bills QB competition down to two?

It seems like one of the three Bills QB’s is falling out of the QB competition. Third year QB, EJ Manuel, for a second week in a row has not seen any reps with the starting unit. The last time Manuel had reps with the one’s was in the Bills Blue and White scrimmage. Since then, veteran QB Matt Cassel took a majority of the reps with the one’s as he was named the starter for the first preseason…

Will the real Bills QB please stand up?!

This offseason, the Bills brought in free agent QB Tyrod Taylor and traded with the Minnesota Vikings for Matt Cassel to compete with E.J. Manuel for the starting Bills QB position. So far, nobody has separated themselves from each other as each QB has struggled with consistency. In Saturday’s scrimmage, Manuel looked the best out of the three QB’s followed by Taylor and Cassel. In today’s…

Is the “Flutie Curse” over with?

In January 2000, then Buffalo Bills owner, Ralph Wilson, made the call to then Bills HC Wade Phillips to have Rob Johnson become the starting QB for the Bills in the playoffs after he saw Johnson play well in a meaningless game 16 for the Bills. Former starting Bills QB, Doug Flutie was told by Phillips that he was only being benched for game 16 so he was rested for the playoffs, only to have the…

New Bills owners, new Buffalo Bills

The 2015 NFL offseason has been a different one for the Buffalo Bills. This is the first full offseason for the Bills without their founder and original owner, Ralph Wilson who passed away in March 2014, and first offseason for new Bills owners Kim and Terry Pegula. The Pegula’s first big move in the offseason was hiring a big name coach, Rex Ryan. The last time the Bills hired a big name coach…

2014, the season of “What if’s” for the Buffalo Bills

The 2014 season was a season of should’ve, could’ve and what if’s for the Buffalo Bills.

What if Kyle Orton started from Week 1, would the Bills be in the playoffs?
What if Kyle Orton was a Bill throughout training camp and preseason, would he have been more effective?
The Bills should’ve beaten the Chiefs and Texans
If the Bills had a better QB, they could’ve been in the playoffs
If the Bills…

15 years and counting…

With yesterday’s loss to the Oakland Raiders, it officially put the final nail in the coffin of the 2014 season for the Buffalo Bills. In years past, the Bills were eliminated from playoff contention in November, so they made it to Week 15 this year without being eliminated. Sadly, this is the 15th year in a row that the Bills are not playing in the playoffs. It seems like such an eternity ago…
